Adventuring
I'm a little sad/frustrated at this month's comic page—but I'm trying to move past it. I'd planned a proper comic, with 5 panels and more dialogue. I even sketched it up, then put it aside for an evening to continue my lazy vacation days. Then when I opened the file again, the whole sketch had been lost. And I'd already procrastinated my way to the end of the month—I hadn't the fortitude to redo the whole thing. So another splash page will have to suffice.
This whole mess is partially due to my overdue switch away from photoshop. This is my full full-colour render with Krita, a free and open-source photoshop alternative, and I'm still bumping into it's edges. I suspect I may not be able to use TIFFs as my working file—which is probably file, so long as I can keep raw TIFFs as well. But otherwise Krita has been fairly intuitive. I'm sticking to a single brush—a hard round—while I feel out and get used to the various differences between Krita and Photoshop, and saving some income in the meantime. I don't do much of my "good" work digitally anyways, so as long as I can tweak a watercolour scan Krita will be more than okay.
All this to say, expect some continued differences in my digital artwork.

Patreon Hiatus
I'm wrapping up some self imposed vacation time—it was my anniversary June 21, and we went on a camping adventure. The first page of Act 2 posts on July 7th for Patreon members, and July 21st for everyone else.

URBAN ARTS TOUR
Saturday, July 5th I'll be participating in the Esquimalt Urban Arts Tour—it's a self guided tour through Esquimalt to see local artists in local gardens. I'll be set up with my garden host, Kathleen Ready, at 1117 Lyll St—it's number 15 on the map.
It should be a lovely Saturday! I'm thinking of bringing a big canvas to work on, I haven't decided.
